MISFITS: Best TV Show. Ever. Seriously
So our UK friends will probably go “wtf? NOW you re writing about it? Are you retarded? Did you live in a cave? Do you even watch/download tv shows? Aww havent you even been on what we cool kids call “the internet?” True, My preoccupation with life (shame on me), work and a series of uncool activities have put me in a rather embarassing position of not introducing to the readers of this blog one of the best shows ever written for tv. And of course, it had to come from British tv. Sure, there were the occasional “Arrested Developments”, selected episodes of “True Blood” and I m certain a couple of shows that didnt suck. But lets face it: Noone writes edge and snark, and takes the piss out of genres like the Brits (Shaun of teh Dead still makes me piss myself). In this case, said Brit is Howard Overman, who like a much cooler Joss Whedon has chosen to give the viewers/fans what they want and not “what they need”. The premise of the show on first look is nothing to scream about: Five ASBO kids doing community service get struck by a freak storm and get super powers. On second look, its fucking brilliant. The characters, the dialogue, the sarcasm, the infinite weirdness of it all. The cast is a fantastic bunch of actors (Iwan Rheon, Robert Sheehan,Lauren Socha,Antonia Thomas & Nathan Stewart Jarrett) who trust me, we ll be hearing more from in the future with so much chemistry between them, its tantalising to watch. The show interacts with its fans, (characters have their own facebook page and twitter account which you can get here: http://www.e4.com/misfits/ Seasons 1 & 2 box set will be out on dvd after Dec 27th, but lets hope that after winning the damn BAFTA for best drama series last summer, one of the greek tv channels will get off their ass and show it over here. Sure, it will be shown after midnight, cause of the language, the sex, the gore, the hilarious Nathan moments and the fact that greek tv execs are a bunch of prude twats. In the meantime, you can either get the dvd, catch it online or do whatever its possible to marvel this torrent of awesomeness my dear monkey sluts.
